Position Description

We are seeking a Primary Care APRN to join our medical group at Forensic Services in St. Peter, MN.
Forensic Services physicians provide care to a diverse patient population living in a long-term residential facility in Minnesota. We have approximately 385 patients on site including a secure inpatient setting, a supervised residential setting, and a nursing home. The patients we care for have been court ordered for evaluation and treatment of their mental illness. Our patients stay with us for an extended period of time allowing for significant acute, chronic and preventative care experience.
At Forensics, a Primary Care APRN will:
- Provide acute illness care in clinic or on living units.
- Continue chronic disease care
- Refer to outside specialists as needed
- Provide preventative care based on current national guidelines
- Provide phone call coverage on nights and weekends, rotating with partners
- Collaborate with partner physicians and nurse practitioners on patient care
- Collaborate with psychiatry providers and mental health team members to provide whole person care
- Provide nursing home care

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from a program of study designed to prepare the individual for advanced practice as a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist in family practice or internal medicine
- Certification with a national professional nursing organization as a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Minnesota
- Authorization from the Minnesota Board of Nursing to prescribe drugs and therapeutic devices
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with inpatient psychiatric patients
- Previous APRN experience

Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) healthcare facilities require employees to provide documentation that they are free from tuberculosis (TB) through a blood test prior to employment. DCT does not accept TB skin testing.
